will the heat from a turbo cause damage
will the heat from a turbo cause damage to a CF hood, warping, cracking all that bull ****, im pondering on getting a cf again, but i dont wanna waste my money on somthing that will get all jacked up. thx for the input
I have a VIS invader CF hood with the vent. It helps dissipate heat and so far i have had no fading. However, right where the vent is i have noticed little cracks. I believe it is from the heat. Ony my prelude though, the turbo mounts only a couple of inches away from the hood so that is probably the source. I have had it on for about 6 months.

I have no heat shield of any kind and my CF hood is holding up perfectly. I can put my hand on the hood after a long run and almost burn myself. I've taken several courses on materials and composit materials and know for a fact composits are designed for high heat.
i have a d16z with a turbo and no heat sheild and i dont have any cracks in my hood. they uses a clear apoxy urathane gel to seal a good carbon fiber hood the only way i can see ic cracking is if the hood stayed up to long it get some stress cracks but they use that **** on fighter plains and they get more heat stress then a simple turbo and the dont crack i dont know iff this helps you but i would say you have nothing to worry about just dont buy crap
