iv got a chipped ecu and i cant get it to run good. what are some of you using as a rough basemap? i dont have the turbo on yet. i wanted to get my car running good before i boost it. everything is ready to do though. the 450cc injectors are in as well as a tapped oil pan that is capped. so i just need to scale the maps for 450cc injectors and then take it out and break in the new motor.

so, why doesnt the gsr map work good? id idles like crap, surges, sometime stalls out. i mean i dont have a gsr head, but i made the secondaries come on before the primaries so they will never turn on. other than that in theory it should work great right? my setup is

b18b bottom
b16 head
gsr pistons
itr cams
450cc injectors
running NA for the time being.

if someone has a map that they know works good please help me out. im getting really frusterated.

the gsr will work but only to get the car running and to the tuner.

why will the gsr work only to get me to the tuner? what i built is almost identical to a gsr. should the gsr map work great? or even an itr map?

GSR, SI, Type R.. if you use the GSR be sure to disable the IAB (secondary butterflies)

????? u dont know what ur talking about. u dont need to disable anything.

a basemap is meant to start the car up and for u to start tuning it good. some people will create great basemaps that will get the car running pretty good, some people make shitty basemaps.
tune the car!

well i just re read his setup. he is using a GSR map already but he says he is running a b16 head. He is playing with the secondary controls when he doesnt even have the right intake manifold on..

Also check for some CEL

the only way to disable the secondary controls is to make the secondaries lower than the primaries so they never come on. i dont think a b16 map will work for an gsr? 1.6l vs. 1.8l. i just want to have a good idle, and cold start. the rest of the fuel maps are easy to tune. thanks

thanks, ya i know what im doing all over the other places of the map. its just getting it going. i cant figure it out. i just want to getting it idling smooth. sometimes these suck to **** around it and if i dont start with a good base its a waste of my time. maybe there is something else messed up. i dont have a code, has anyone used a gsr map with a pretty much "stock" ls vtec?

if ur burning a chip then start making changes!!!! its not that hard. if its not running good start adding/subtracting fuel till its good enough to drive to get tuned! u guys want every thing spoon fed to u.

and if u want some basemaps, go to xenocrons website for basemaps http://www.xenocron.com/bins/

and enough with the disabling of the secondaries. U DONT NEED TO DISABLE ANYTHING!!!!!!


ive done over 60-80 ecu's and i have used some of the same basemaps to get GSR's, B16's, LS/VTECS to run decent enough to get tuned. LS/VTEC with GSR or B16 head is not gonna make a world of a difference to get the car running.

do u have any CEL? did u install a resistor box is u r run n DSM or low impedance injectors?

if i were u i would install the stock injectors in the car and run the stock ecu just so u can elimnate the possibility of a "bad basemap". if the car runs fine with that, then put in the 450cc and start adding/taking away fuel from a 450cc basemap.

i think ill just put the turbo and and use the map i used all summer. i really wanted to tune na just for fun but this is getting rediculous. i know my turbo map works good. thanks for the help and suggestions though
