Will this air filter setup work for me?
I am currently in the middle of a build trying to get 500+ on pump and see what I can get on Q16.
Setup: 84mm ERL short block, Darton sleeved, wiseco pistons, crower rods, full-race divided top mount, pro series valvetrain, pro 1 cams, BW 8375 turbo
I wanted to make sure I got some kind of filter on this setup because there is a lot of dirt and debris on the road from trucks where I live. I don't plan on driving this car very much on the road, but I always want the option to drive it and not worry about getting dust and debris sucked up into the turbo. I will only have the filter on it for the pump gas tune, and will use a screen for the race gas tune. I bought this cheapy filter from Advance so that I could return it if it won't work for me. Do you think it will flow enough for what I want it to do or is it too small? The inlet on the turbo is 4" and so is the 45 deg coupler, joiner and inlet on the filter. As you can see not a lot of room there. Any suggestions on how to make this setup better, or do you think this will do just fine?
Thanks,

Will it work...yes
Is it the best filter...no I'd look into a K&N as already mentioned. They have many different sizes available but nothing that stubby though. I think the one that comes with the iceman intake system is about the smallest. You are limited on space for sure. What about running a 4" silicone 90 and put the filter pointing down?

Ive seen numerous threads on here with people sucking the little piece on the inside of those filters through the turbo... and the blades on the turbo are destroyed... So consider that... I am sure you can find something through K&N
Thanks for the input guys, I am going to take this thing back and go another route I was thinking maybe if I could find a deal on the HKS mushroom filter I'd go that route instead. I've used several K&N's on different setups and I'm pleased with them, but I've never had a setup that has the size constraints like this one does before.
