Default Wierd boost problem, any ideas???

CAR: dc2 gsr 9:1 pistons, Rods, greddy turbo kit, 550cc inj, walbro 255, Hondata s300,open down pipe...More but i think its irrelevant.

So when i got the car it was on 7psi, but ive known the prev owner for awhile and i know he had it on 11psi no problem. Also the owner before him claimed it he had it on 24psi.

So anyways i tried turning the boost up with the manual boost controller but it wouldnt go about 7. So adjusted the wastegate rod shorter and the car spooled much faster and was at 15psi.

because when i would start spooling anywhere from 10-15 psi it would hit some kind of limiter. it felt kinda like a rev limiter and flame shoots out the downpipe and it sounds like gunshots. When it happens the acceleration stops immediatly(like i fly forward) so the rpms just stop going up and it makes loud *** popping like gun shots(sometimes one pop, sometimes several). This seemed to happen at random places like sometimes 5000 rpm or sometimes 7000 or even 4500.

so i lowered the spark plug gap to .23 and lowered the boost to about 12 and the problem seemed to be gone at first. I would go to 8k 1st through 4th no problem for a couple runs but after a few runs it would just start happening again.

Also it happened way more often at night when it is colder out.

so now i have the boost at 10 or 11 and it never happens but the car kinda cuts out at high rpm, only sometimes though.

Also its not boost cut because that is set at 18psi. Ive looked through my parameters on my hondata and dont see what it could be.

Maybe a weak ignition coil? Bad plug wires? Or possibly a hidden secondary engine-saving device? Do you have a wideband? Or a knock sensor?
