Default why not turbonetics?

My tuner isnt a big fan of turbonetics turbos. Not the complete kits just the turbos them selves. My buddy had a turbonetics 60-1 on his sti and my tuner said he would have had better luck with a garrett. Any one have any insight on this?
P.S. I am not looking for me or my tuner to get flamed here, just seeing if anyone else feels the same way and why. thanks.

I honestly couldn't tell you there. I have ran 3 different turbonetics turbos and loved them.

my 60-1 I got for $675 shipped w/ polished housing..... I know a bounch of people running Turbonetics with success, and they have a good warranty..... Precision is way overpriced but people continue to buy them.

Oh... and Turbonetics does not run Garrett parts from what I am told

The reason I like Garrett is because they make the factory turbos for almost all turbos cars, and put some extreme r&d into them, just more peace of mind.

I've had my turbonetics turbo since 2000, no problems with it. It has about 40K miles on it now.

I am considering this turbonetics kit for my 99gsR and have heard nothing but good about them. What do you think about this kit.. any suggestions or comments about it will be greatly appreciated. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

That kit seems a little cheap, what do other sites sell it for..... plus they do not give any domensions on the turbo.... Just a super H

If I was to buy a kit it would only be a full-race but thats just me.

I know some people who have bought from that guy and never had a complaint.

But I also just noticed like two weeks ago on here someone was saying they had purchased one of his kits and they were just turbonetics housings, the turbo's were a knock off.

I have that exact same turbo kit. Got mine for $1956 or so i think. Was an easy install and it works great. Just doenst come with any instructions besides the wastegate booklet. I would sujest the kit to anyone.

PM me if you want any pics would be more than happy to show you what it looks like when you get it.

Have you taken apart the turbo? Did the turbo have a Turbonetics sticker with the serial # on the back of the compressor housing?

Turbonetics offers a 1 year warranty, and I believe garrett offers a limited warrenty and precision is extremely high in price, and has no warranty. Turbonetics makes all of it's parts now in house, garrett use to make them, but the cancelled their contract 3 years ago. I'm a turbonetics fan, but nothing wrong with garrett or precision. I'm picking up a turbonetic turbo next month!!! I love the comfort of the warranty, especally if I'm going to drop $700-$800 on a turbo.

turbonetics makes turbos for catepillar,,and those things take lots of abuse...you cant go wrong with turbonetics or garrett (assuming they're real.. )
