Why can't you bore out a b16 more than 84 mm?
When you see pictures of b16's the sleeve still has what looks to be an inch of water jacket before it meets the edge of the block. If you were to go with benson type sleeves why can't you bore it out another few mms? 1 mm is .04 inches. What gives? Is the force exerted on the cylinder wall that great? Just wondering. For some reason I don't want a gsr engine, but I wan't oil squirters and >1.7 liters of displacement. Quite the quandry.

After looking at a close up I think the limiting factor is the area between the cylinders. At 84 mm there appears to be ~10 mm of metal between each cylinder. I guess that is pushing it if you are looking for a block that will last very long.
