Why the bad lag?
Im running a DSM 14b on a DOHC ZC. Setup as follows
14b
HF Mani / Adapter plate
Custom 2.75 downpipe and exhaust
CCA FMIC
The 14b had alot of cracks around the wastegate, so that could be the issue. There are no exhaust leaks. Changine the wastegate to a 7psi wastegate either made it spool sooner, or it just felt like that because it was running out of breath upper RPM. The lag is bad, it doesnt spool until 5,000 RPM. It also isnt a smooth spool to full boost, you wait...nothing...then slam...it spools.
I have the wastegate vacuum sourced off the TB if that could have anything to do with it.
Any ideas?

Re: Why the bad lag? (tegunderpressure)
I talked to a few people who think its the cracks in the turbo. I was wondering if I could take it out and have the cracks welded?

Re: Why the bad lag? (tegunderpressure)
Your wastegate is probably opening up really early causing the "lag"...Use of a boost controller will help "hide" the boost pressure from the diaphragm and allow for the turbo to spool up much faster...
