whp ?
I am trying to choose between a drag gen 3 or vortech for my for now internally stock 99civic si. I want to be able to run low thirteens on street tires/drag radials and high twelves on slicks. The vortech will produce more whp than the drag kit. Does whp, no matter how it is produced, always equate to faster times? or Does that mean my car will definitely be faster with the vortech?

Re: whp ? (teamrocket si)
You will probably not have nearly as much torque or mid-range horsepower with the Vortech compared to a drag turbo. This is what matters more than peak power.

Re: whp ? (degradated)
Degradated and Tomakit are both right,
it's all about where the power is on the RPM range.
for example the Vortech might have say 250 HP @ 8000 RPM but at 7500 it only has 180. BUT a Turbo will have 250 HP @ 8000 RPM and at 7500 it would have 230 HP
those aren't exact numbers just a VERY EXAGERRATED example if you visualiz it you'll get the idea.
see if you can get a Vortech dyno sheet and a DRAG or any turbo dyno sheet and compare the power curve.

If you want high 12 low 13's youll have to build the bottom end, get the right fuel mgmt (standalone or Hondata) and probably run between 10-15 PSI.

Re: whp ? (CleanSi)
Not always true, guy in my area rana 12.5 on slicks with 10psi on his Si, and a 12.2 at 13.5psi, stock block, self-tuned.
would you happen to know his times with just 7 PSI? i wanted to see how close my guesstimates were.

Re: whp ? (MiraiZ)
I appreciate the help. I have seen quite a few stock block si's running mid to high twelves on slicks, but mid thirteens is what I am really hoping to run with the help of drag radials. I can't seem to find any dyno charts for drag powered si's on this board. Anyone? And yes I have done a search.

if itson the same car and you're not losing traction...I'd say yes..
let me see if I can find a Vortech dyno and a Turbo dyno chart so we can compare the 2.
