why wouldnt it be safe?
brass is recommended bc its soft and is less likely to mess up your threads.

1/8" NPT

But you'd be better off plugging that port and running the vacuum to the intake manifold.

Intercoolers cool air, so they drop the volume of the air, so pressure drops across them.

I'm using straight brass fittings for my coolant lines... works fine.

I've seen them used for both oil and coolant, so I don't think you will have a problem.
