who has sold an engine?
Get a box. Then I found some plywood at Home depot for $2. I bought 2 peices. Cut it so that it would fit the bottom of the box. Then I bought a whole roll of this foam for $17 in the carpet section. And cut it up, and put about 8-10 layers. Then I layed the block in. Then I put about 2 layers of that stuff around it and then filled in the extra gap with a LOT of newspaper that I crumpled up into a ball shape.
Tada:
Then, I put the foam stuff on top of the block, about 10 layers and topped it off with a peice of plywood. Then I taped up the WHOLE BOX with this tape I bought from Home depot made for packaging.
Cost to package:
$4 for Plywood
$17 for Foam thingy
$5 for Box
$5 for tape
$40 to ship via UPS with $1,000 Insurance
Total: $71
Whole thing weighed 70 lbs.

i once shipped an entire long block across country via a logistics service. I put it in a crate and used pieces of 2x4 to brace it all around so it wouldnt move.
