... boost level on entirely stock B18C1 on pump gas?

And those neato head gaskets effectively render your motor non-stock..

i think 400 is possible but who knows how long it would last on a stock motor..tuning is key of course

Not that this will be the highest, but I boost 10psi as my high boost on a stock engine, netting ~278whp.

I think there might be a point where stock pistons just cannot hang with the pressure, or possibly the sleeves. Maybe you should set the record Dustin.

Peak cylinder pressure doesn't really go up much with added boost.... it just burns with 'more area under the curve'... or so I was indirectly educated by Corky Bell

I dunno. I'm really lazy and even though I could build my motor right now I kinda wanna keep it stock (on the GSR) and see how far I can go until I break things.

Everyone keeps mentioning horsepower, but I'm interested in boost level... I'm trying to see at what point the infamous 91 octane begins to preignite... and where the point of diminishing return is for timing retard vs. increased boost...

Like Vapor trail says, "the highest you should go on pump gas is 100hp/cylinder."

Hahaha... That's funny. I was thinking the same thing today. I was going to wait until spring when I saved enough money for a rebuild, then start upping the boost to see under what boost pressure, hp, and conditions I end up breaking something.

man, i am really tempted to push mine to 18 or 20psi just to see what it feels like. i run 14psi and put out 350hp and 250+torque but i don't want to crack a sleeve.

I thought I saw pistons (and rods) on imglib for your GSR? Or you just talking about keeping the block stock? I have no idea about the original question either

dustin u ever thought about running ghetto race gas? my friend mixes toulene w/ his weekly fill ups. 10gallons of 93 pump w/ 5 gallons of toulene + some MMO chemical. he gets about 100octane result and costs around 2.25 per gallon total. I dont know much about this stuff but all the supra guys in town run it and they say it doesnt have lead in it. maybe u should give it a shot.

Well, detonation is dependent on temperature and pressure. Therfore intake temps will have a bearing too - that is the efficiency of the turbo (how much heat its adding at a given boost level, intercooler efficiency, and ambient temps. Elevation will have a slight impact too

Dustin,

Come over to my house, we'll turn the boost up 1psi after each run until my car blows up. That will give you your answer. In return I'll blame you for installing my turbo kit wrong and you can build up my block with those pistons and rods that you have handy.
