With a thicker hg and headstuds and a good tune you can make 300-500whp.Buddy of mine has the redtop euro-r i tuned this thing on crome 3 years ago makes over 400whp on 17psi and a few others to 300-350whp.With the thickest cometic hg and headstuds combo i have been able to make 550 on e98 and over 600whp on methonal.
As long as the tune is good you can make 350whp safely and would be pretty reliable on pump gas.

Any more info on boosting a stock PDE h23a blue top? I'm using mine on a stock H2B in a wagovan, and I want to run minimal boost, mostly for a more efficient hp gain.

I've been looking online for a while and it doesn't seem like many people have strong facts.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mine lasted 5 months around 350whp. Spit a rod out.

Old 57 trim around 10-12psi. Was tuned on Neptune RTP. May have tuned it a little aggressive under the curve. I'll never know now. Thing was an absolute torque monster though. The stock rods are pretty weak so tread lightly. There's more info about these engines in the "highest HP on stock block" thread in this subforum and a bunch more in the "H23 blue top mystery motor" thread in the prelude subforum. Try searching for those. Some people have had better luck than me, some have had worse.

thanks for the info.

Im wondering if a smaller turbo and less boost will help. I don't want to be cookie cutter. I wonder how hot a T28 would fair

T28 is gonna be too small. H23A is a pretty big motor and likes to breathe.

The T28/T25 turbine sizing may be rather limiting, but you can stay within a similar size family with a smaller turbocharger than 46lbs/min 57 "trim". Just expect for your budget to increase. The smaller they get (to be still efficient) the higher in price.

Start planning for the purpose of the car other than "spool". It will be easier to narrow things down.
