Who Has the BOOST Record!
Last night I tuned a mustang for a guy with a 5.8L engine............get this.......it had 10.5:1 compression and 24lbs of boost with NO INTERCOOLER!
I warned him several times, but he wanted to do it.........in the end I was lucky enough not to blow the damn thing up, but it only made 745hp at the wheels........jackass.

You know I ran 7-9 lbs (15lbs on accident) on the stock D16Y7 bottom end for a year. Only problem I had was blowing up an ACT clutch....well, that and turning tires bald very very quickly

so like, what do you long term guys attribute the reliability to? tuning of course, but any safeguards most dont consider, please share! ie boost controller preventing spikes, certain afr at certain rpms, pcv system, oil line size/fittings, coolers? ah hell just list in detail what you have =P

I think it's pretty simple, no your motors limits, don;t beat it constantly and great tuning. Just a guess.

maybe i should add, for cheap with a ghetto homemade setup on a stock motor hah. the most expensive part for me will be the wb02. spending more on the tuning device than the rest of the turbo setup- priceless
That's how it works because most of the turbo parts are the same. As long as it's tuned well and you have a half-way decent equipment you should be fine, but that's what i have realized. It needs to be tuned to get the best results.
had a 2.3l 4cyl (Ford) i built for a Mustang i had. Stock ported head, crane custom gring cam, custom manifold, TE-44 turbo @ 21psi, custom FMIC, etc.
Ran around for a year putting a pounding out it (never took the boost controller off of 21psi) on pump gas with no problems. New owner still has the same setup, running 21psi with no problems (been 2 years now).

</TD></TR></TABLE>sorry, i dont believe this at all. That motor would have been blown to smitherines had it been at 24 lbs of boost and no intercooler. Not buyin it

I'm Sure Chris is working on that as we speak. He has been very busy I talked to him yesterday.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Just threw the chip in the ecu today. Can't wait to put it in my car!
