Default bearings?

my buddy has 4k miles on a newly built motor. one or more rings didn't seat, so we're just going to replace all 4 rings. Do the bearings "have" to be replaced? I know it's recommended to, but is it a must w/ a motor that only has 4k on it.

If they look good when you take it apart i wouldnt worry about it, i have seen several motors that where low mileage and then put back together with the samn low milage bearings..

Only do it if they look real good.

Reuse the bearings as long as no abnormal wear is observed, just make sure to put them back in the same location (don't mix them up)
