Well without looking at the car i can tell you that:

White = Water/Coolant
Blue = Oil
Black = Fuel Rich

Is the turbo water cooled?

Did the car sit for awhile & possible water collected in exhaust system burning off?

Well the question is really open ended have you tried checkin nthe oil drain to see if its kinked or not draining right.Maybe do a compression test to make sure its not the motor.When does it smoke and more info will help.

yes it is water cooled, i checked if there was oil in the reservior, none. checked the dipstick if it coolant in it, none. doesn't overheat. it smokes when i am driving it. not when i start it up. spark plugs had no oil on it or detonation. Saw someone oil where the intake elbow connects to the turrbo. found a little oil underneath. I am running out of idea's. thought it might be the head gasket but don't see any visible sign of it being there. can't it be because the turbo is still new and coolant is not burning well in the turbo? i don't know, help me out people

i am using a edelbrock performer x kit, so i am using a gt28r turbo, but the turbo is brand new, has less than 50 miles. also would the smoke affect my performance, i moticed when i step on the gas i see it go to 6 lbs of boost but it feels like it is not pulling as hard as it used to be?

so you need to give more info about your setup
motor?
miles?
built or not?
tuned? with what?

what I'm getting at is the head might be lifting while your in boost.
do you have head studs?
your only running 6lbs? or is that all you get?
from the sound of it you need to go get it tuned and get some head studs

d16y8 motor, 115k miles,running on stock internals,uses a edelbrock turbolink piggyback ecu, taht came with the kit since it was used for stock internals. i can get 14lbs of boost but check engine light comes on. i put it on to 6 lbs because i mostly use it to daily drive. i don't have head studs, talked to a very reputable mechanic, he said that maybe there is coolant in my exhaust pipe or old coolant, and just need to be burned off. I am running a straight downpipe. help me out someone. hope this helps

are you running a stock map sensor?? unless i am terribly mistaken if your running a stock map sensor it isn't going to see 14 psi of boost. sounds to me like you might have some tuning issues like stated above

no i am not running a stock map sensor, when i look at the a/f ratio gauge when i am boosting it is running rich, so thats good.but i don't put it to 14 lbs anyways, just usually 4-6 lbs. for daily driving. on my boost/vacuum gauge. when i idle it shows 23-24hg is that okay? head suppose to be like 20-22hg. also the piggyback ecu is tuned for stock engines, the ecu came with the kit to also deal with the 4 additional injectors in back of the intake manifold. i am using a walbro 255lph it to run the gas.

pull that pos tuning crap and go chip your ecu
pick up some RC440cc injectors (only 4 of them )
running rich is not a good thing it can wash your rings and destroy your motor
you said that your not running the stock map however at 14psi your check light is on?
why is that?
you need to get it on a dyno to get a good tune on it.
i will stay with my original assumption with it being your head lifting
causing your HG not to seal properly while in boost thus causing a HG leak
do a compression test to check for this
regardless i recommend you get a new HG and ARP head studs asap
at 115k it's about that time...
mechanic's now very little about tuning go to a speed shop and ask there opinion

by "it" shows... what is "it"?
i truly have no idea what your talking about

If there is watercooling between the turbo and the engine, then it sounds like there is water leaking into the intake under boosting conditions.

i will check that tonight. is changing the head studs hard? from 1-10 what is the diffcultly level? when i had the the old turbo on it didn't smoke, only when i put on the new one. so my first reaction was the coolant hose to the turbo.... oh yeah when it got first dyno'd using the piggyback ecu, got pretty good #'s considering stock internals on a d series. to the wheels was 190 at 8lbs.

changing headstuds are not that bad
i would say a...7

i checked the intake, no coolant, i took off the valve cover and there was no coolant up there, but i noticed now that there isn't that much smoke any more, it is kinda like slowly going away....not sure though.

it could be the turbo settling in i guess
regardless head studs and HG along with a good tune will go a long way
SOHC heads have history of lifting
so look at it as preventative maintenance

glad to hear
