Where to mount Zeitronix LCD in 92-95hb?
Ok I just got this in the mail, and the screen is larger than I expected. Maybe I should have measured it out beforehand hehe.
Anyone have the LCD mounted somewhere cool? I'd like it to not be visible when the vehicle is parked. Trying to be stealth here.
Any ideas?

hmmm....someplace hidden?
How about on the radio/AC control console but with a cover to go on top when not in use?
Another thing I have seen done is people use their glove box as a gauge holder. Just fab up a mounting plate so that it sticks out of the globe box. You can close the box when you leave the car, and when you drive around you can leave it open to view it.
Or yet another one would be in the flip down visor. I dont know if the LCD is thin enough though. How thick is it from the front of the LCD screen to the back of the LCD?

"The aluminum enclosure dimensions are 4.7" x 2" x 0.9" "
This I never read before I ordered hehe. It's like 50% larger than I expected. I'm dumb.
I guess I could use the glovebox. When I had my techedge back in my integra I remember watching the screen all the time when I was in boost... so I think I'd like to have it within view when driving (safely heh).
I guess I want to have my cake and eat it too. Blah blah. Sorry if this is a dumb thread.
It's just wide enough to not fit in the little fold-down tray underneath the cig lighter etc. That would have been a pretty good place. If I trimmed 1/8" off each edge of the screen it would fit hehe.

hehehe, yah I had to search around to find the dimensions too. So it's just a smidge under an inch in depth? Maybe you could install it in the visor then, similar to how people install DVD LCD screens in their cars to watch movies and stuff. One dude at my work installed an LCD in his sun visor. The wiring can be run through the roofliner and down through the a-pillar.

Hmm I guess I could. But then I'd need the visor down to see it; That is pretty stealth though. Maybe I should just velcro it to the steering column when I am driving. I guess that is pretty lame.

Kinda like how people mount their VAFCs up there? that would be a good spot for it, but it wont be as stealthy if you dont make a cover for it..

Well the idea was to un-velcro and then hide it when I was done driving. But I dunno if I want to velcro anything to the car.

Yah it's never a good idea...plus it might turn into a hassle having to put it on/off all the time.

Hmm well I have to pull the stereo faceplate every time I park anyways so I guess I don't care. Maybe I was just hoping someone had some magical way of mounting the Zeitronix LCD. I think I was hoping for too much.
Oh well.
Thanks for the comments.

I think you should try putting it in your visor, that would be badass! Plus if you were to do that, then it would let me know if it works or not. Cause that's how I wanna do mine hehehe.

Oh man.. hehe. Ok I'll think about it. I'd want to get another visor first because I hate ruining stock parts. I'll line it up in the car and see how it works... heh.
I still wish someone had a really neat way of mounting the screen. I will continue to maintain hope
Did you just put your zeitronix box above the ecu or in the glove box? I used to have my techedge and J&S in the glovebox, but they always slid around and ruined the usefulness of the glovebox. When (if? hah, no.. when) I get pulled over I like not having wires and stuff in the glovebox, makes me seem guilty of something...

I'll probably put the zt2 controller around where my ECU conversion harness is. I dont really need to look at it, so putting it back by my conversion harness will keep it out of the way.

May I suggest mounting it above the rearview mirror on a hinge. People usually don't look up at the roofliner when looking inside a car and placing it on a hinge would allow you to fold it away to some degree so it just look like some innocuous little box.
Just a thought.

Re: Where to mount Zeitronix LCD in 92-95hb? (dustin)
Ok, this isn't stealth at all, but I am done installing it. Heh.
There was just no other good place that would let me see the AFR and EGT part of the screen while driving.
I pulled the stock O2 and I am using the "simulated narrowband" wire to feed the ECU. It's a P28 with crome with the O2 heater disabled on a B18C1.

Yeah I hope the screen holds up in the sun, etc. It looks like it is getting a little wavy already (plastic cover over screen to prevent scratches).

It's great. I liked the datalogging features and the EGT input it had. The screen was also a better size than the PLX.
Seemed like a better deal for the price than the PLX.
