Hope I didn't miss anything here, but 1/8 NPT 27 is a plain old 1/8 in pipe thread...
Or do you want something special like a stainless pipe plug?

i am having problems finding a plug also. i went to the plumbing section at home depot and there is nothing smaller than 1/4". the weird thing is that the 1/4" stuff looks too small to plug the egt bung.

Is that what you guys are after?
1/8 inch NPT (National Pipe Thread)
Tap drill 21/64 (0.328) with reamer
Tap drill Q (0.3320) with no tapered reamer post drill treatment
Nominal OD of the thread 0.405 keep in mind it is a tapered thread
Typical thread engagement 0.264 inch
If thats it, its plain ol 1/8 in NPT. Grainer and McMasterCarr has these fittings for sure. Locally a good plumbing or autoparts jobber should stock 1/8 in parts. Your right they are not "common"... Home depot probably starts stocking at 1/4 inch NPT, IIRC.

i found one at home depot, but it is a brass plug.
is this alright? will the brass fitting stand up to the heat of the downpipe? thanks.

Brass is fully liquid at 1750 oF, Bronze is fully liquid at 1850 oF. Dull red steel/cast iron is around 1250 oF.

sorry, but this doesnt sound right. cast iron becoming fully liquid at 1250*F. i have heard on people getting egt readings in this range and their manifolds werent melting.
anyone else know if a brass cap is a suitable egt plug? thanks in advance.

Re read it again, I think you might have missed my change of verbage. For the cast iron, I listed what would be a dull red heat temperataure, NOT the liquidus temp of cast iron...
I sort of snuck in the change to compare where melting the brass/bronze would be with the dull red we usually see on turbo housings...
