Where can I buy FJ custom rods to use with Vitara Pistons?
Hey mates.
I intend to use vitara pistons in my turbo setup.
Read FJ rods does not require block thinning and came with 138.63mm in lengh. Keeping a resonable CR.
I'm already running on E100.
Where can I buy FJ rods?
Is true that YCP vitaras are worst than Nippon Racing ones?
Thanks for all tips and infos.
Cheers!

Nowhere. They're out of business.
Try here. http://p2p0.com/
And they DO require the block to be notched.
YCP Vitara pistons have been run in 600hp engines.
Do better research.

Thanks!
Well, will check on prices. If they also need to notch the block maybe the Eagles ones are better choice.
My doubt about vitara pistons is between YCP and Nippon brands.
I'm researching
Cheers.

stock length rods with Vitara pistons lower the compression ratio somewhere in the low 7:1 area, making the car sluggish and horrible to drive out of boost. and as previously stated fj is out of business, I believe one or two other companies that are listed in this thread also offer custom with rods but I don't know about availability you would have to check with each distributor to see if they have any in stock.
are you dead set on using vs pistons? For not much more money you could get a proper forged pistons and what I call shelf rods and have an even better bottom end, as all cast pistons have limits, whereas a forged pistons can really take everything you can throw at it as long as the tune is proper.

My intend is to build a daily drive turbo car. About 200HP and smooth to drive on street. So brand forged are kind of waste.
Send email to http://p2p0.com/ waiting their answer. If they don't reply i'll try RCautoworks.
Thanks for the infos mates.

I already got all the other parts (P28, ostrich, injectors, intercooler, bov, cast mani, wg, etc) to boost it with inner oems. Choosing the turbo itself. Probably a Borg K16 ;D
Vitaras and forged rods would make more reliable and I could raise boost a bit to track days :D

Re: Where can I buy FJ custom rods to use with Vitara Pistons?
But stock length rods drop compression to 7:1 which makes the car horrible to drive out of boost, motor becomes less efficent and will get shitty fuel economy
Turning up the boost means nothing. Especially when compression is that low. A stock d series with the same turbo setup would not only drive better all around but it will make more power and have a much broader powerband compared to your setup..
And for 200whp you don't need internals, a stock d can handle up to 225-250HP. and since it sounds like you honestly don't want to do it right the first time with proper parts, I would wait until you can do things properly
Not trying to knock you but once you've driven the car with that low of a compression ratio, you'll hate it and end up redoing the whole bottom end over again with proper parts
Hell I'd run at least 10:1 compression

Re: Where can I buy FJ custom rods to use with Vitara Pistons?
Might be the outsider here, or maybe my car is just super light (EF hatch), but I drove an all motor Vitara / Eagle rod D16A6 for a few months, and I couldn't tell a difference between it and the SOHC ZC I had in it before that. I drove the crap out of it all motor and now it's been boosted for about three years now and still keeps on ticking. People exaggerate the "sluggishness" of the "super low" compression. **** works just fine.

It might make the motor run but a cas with an identical turbo setup and the same motor that has a 9:1 - 10:1 compression ratio will drive better and make more power and torque. .. both at peak and under the curve. It will have a much better powerband

Re: Where can I buy FJ custom rods to use with Vitara Pistons?
I think will boost it oem and see if it handles. No excessive smoke, bearings rattle sound, and so.
Seems vitara and 138.63mm rods drops CR to 8.81:1. Horrible driving on E100. Block decking will be a must. http://www.zealautowerks.com/dseries.html
Wiseco pistons (or so) will arrive here quite expensive to a basic turbo. Since customs bites in 60% over the total including shipment.
What about the turbo for a nice D-D? Boost coming from 3500-4000RPM?
Already got the go-autoworks cast mani to keep the PS and AC.
Thinking in a Borg K16 .48/.42 or so. The mechanic said Borg got lighter rotors comparing to Garret. And will spoon sooner...Ball bearing ones are accessible only in dreams...lol
Thanks for the tips mate.

Agreed. I had my vitara eagle combo for years, and it didn't feel any worse out of boost then the bone stock cx motor I took out of it. Made 430/350 ft pounds on a 57 trim on 28-30 psi on e85.
I also agree that a stock motor making 200 hp with a good tune should not have any issues.Go for it.
