When to upgrade my ignition?

Default When to upgrade my ignition?

When is it totally necessary to upgrade the ignition in my turbo LS?

stock is good enough. it doesnt hurt to upgrade your ignition to a multiple spark/capacitative discharge type system like a MSD unit. it somewhat smoothens out your powerband and gives you better gas mileage. its an option... but not needed unless your puttin out alot of horsepower. there are drag racers out there who are still using stock ignition systems.

Well, I'm rebuilding the bottom end right now, and my car's already tuned up to 10psi. But I haven't been boosting anything more then 7psi yet. Once its rebuilt and finer tuned, I plan on boosting around 12-14psi.

12-14 psi is a still OK, some say stocker is good up to 15psi...but I say you should get one.
