I'll be pushing around 300-400WHP with my steup real soon...soooo....i'm wondering, when does the stock ignition system start to take a crap and it's necessary to upgrade?

The Hondata/Vortech Civic that did 200mph did it on the stock ignition. It made something like 479 whp.

I ran my turbo honda for along time with a stock ignition...worked great. I finally got a MSD 6a (got it used really cheap) and i didnt notice any difference (only now there is more wires in my engine bay).

Ive seen dynos of before and after with no difference. Im sure it might help when your making HUGE amounts of power and high compression...but i wasnt close to that.

I have an H series motor, and when i dyno tuned it i didnt think i would need an after market ignition system. At 14.7psi the ignition fell flat on its face, not letting me boost more then i originally had planned to on the dyno. So i recommend investing in one, at 14.7psi with a stock ignition that couldnt keep up i managed to put down 330whp.

 

i'm running 16 pounds with just an msd blaster coil with no problems
