<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by BlackKnight7 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">After Three years of being interested in moding cars, I would have to say that to most car guys their cars will never be done in their eyes. There needs to be more power, more grip, stiffer springs, the car needs to be lighter, more dependable, etc. The point is for most people they will never find what is "enough" for them. So to answer the question I believe for many people myself included it is a life long hobby and is that so bad?

Jake d.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Nope i think life long hobbies are great. Maybe i just havent figured out what my life long hobby is. I guess I was so used to always saying "I want to be turbo'ed Now Im finished and I don't have probelms..(which Im very thankful). A guy just sent me an IM and he said when a person achieves there goals It helps others achieve ther goals are higher. So i guess that's my goal for me to inspire someone else to do there set up right the first time and they have a goal to reach and beat.

Your car will NEVER be as fast, or as light, or as quick, or as nimble, as it possibly could be. Keep trying.

I have goals that I set, but they're not as important as simply trying to ALWAYS keep improving. Just try to get better every day.

When I reach my goal for my car...I want to sit back and enjoy it. I just spent all that time and money building it and working on it, its time to enjoy the damn thing. Take it to the track to beat on. Go to some roadcourses. Whatever I feel like doing just so long as I am enjoying the car.

reach your goals and stop! buy a station wagon and a kiddie seat.....and invest in retirement and on buying a house....cut that 30 year mortgage down by half. keep the car and tinker with it when you get in fights with your wife or have fun with it on the weekends.....

Once I reach my goals, my money is going elsewhere. I know this might be the opposite of what most of you guys would do, but once I reach my goal (mid 13s) I will be happy. I will start investing my money agian, and plan for the future (house, wife and kids, etc.). I love my car to death, but just feel like there are more importiant things in life. I will also vote for the bike idea!! I have one and love it!! Honda VFR750F!!

Im the type of person if i haven't tried it, it will bug me for along time. That's why i went turbo. I just wanted to see how it was to beat these V8's. Killing corvettes and ws6's was fun but I just want somthing new.

And forever wish you could return to those days when nothing would stop you from trying to improve go faster.

I don't pretend to know the secrets of life or what will make me in twenty years, but I do know what excites me now and what makes me happy now. For right now I like pushing my limits and growing from these experiences. Maybe someday I will be content with sitting on my butt all day and driving a station wagon. I certainly hope not because my today self is going to kick my 50 year old self's *** if that happens.

I do it cause its fun. thats really what it boils down too. When it is not fun anymore is when I will get out and find something new.

Sometimes it sucks cause ur broke and eating off the 99 cent menu just so u can spend the money u do have on ur car. Other times the car is broke and you gotta spend ur whole weekend away from ur friends/gf just so u can fix it.

I got to the point w/ my car where I hit my goal of 12's on street tires w/ stock motor and I felt like I hit the point of diminishing returns. I knew the next step was gonna cost alot of money, and the risks involved were double what they were before. Im not the type to just sit still w/ what I have. If this were baseball, skating, whatever, I would always strive to get better. I couldn't just say, "oh i hit a home run, now im done w/ baseball."

So it was between either selling the car and doing a new project, or going all the way w/ this one. I chose to go all the way, I am just having way too much fun w/ hondas right now to give it up.

That's exellent Chris. At least your confedent in what you want to do and have realistic goals. After this Im not looking to built a 10sec car. Would be nice, but i don't have the time for it anymore. College has become a center focus and I want a Bike. Just how Im saying I want a Bike that's how I waas with turbo. After the bike fase, i think Im going to get married or somthing. Im just enjoying myself now while i can. I may not sell everything but I wont hessitate. The car is still fun as hell to drive. It's just i want to see new things. Maybe, sepends on this weekend.

21? Jeez have fun. Study Hard. Work Hard. Play Hard. Seriously, though, once a car guy....always a car guy. You think when you buy a family car it'll be some ordinary tin can on wheels......hell NO! your gonna look at the engine, the suspension, the aftermarket.....oh the dreaded aftermarket .....but seriously enjoy yourself now....you'll never have that chance again after you enter the blue collar corporate politic filled bullshit world....and having to raise kids and keeping your wife happy. but that's probably a few years down the road

The only time I ever quit working on my car was when I had my CBR. Rap the throttle and you've got all the power you need Eventually I had to sell the bike to help with the down payment on a house before we got I'm married but guess what, I'm back into cars I'm 26 and fortunate enough to have a sweet wifey that shares the same interests.
My goal for next year is 11's, then I'm sure it will be 10's.......
Good thread

Just for fun
