Default When do I need a fuel pump upgrade?

I have an Fmax turbo kit with Hondata standalone and RC440 injectors.
I have a basic chip in now and will be dyno tuning and chip burning in 2 weeks.
I installed my EGT gauge (probe at the #1 cylinder exhaust manifold runner) and I am getting fairly high temps at 4000RPM (750-800C = 1300-1400F) driving in 5th gear on the highway. I don't dare boost much with those temps, right?

I assume my chip is just running me too lean at this point. I upped my fuel pressure (using my B&M fuel regulator) from the stock 40psi to 60psi as suggested by Doug at Hondata. I keep getting told that the stock fuel pump should be fine up to like 12psi using the 440 injectors. Is that true??? I just want to be sure before I get to the dyno just to find out that no matter what we do i'll be lean because the stock pump really can't handle the needed flow and pressure.

Please reply!

If I were you I'd slap a 255lph walbro in the tank and just not have to worry about it ever again.

what would be better the high pressure one or the normal 255lph for engine management?

either one will be fine, you dont need the high pressure one because youre only running around 45 psi. As for install it's stuper simple. under the back seat there is an access panel with 3 screws. From there you will figure how to finish the install.

it is a 15-30 minute install. pretty easy.

how hard a job is it to pull up the rear seats? Is the Walbro a direct drop in replacement then? I have the Helm manual so I see that once the seats are out the install is easy if its a direct bolt in.

it is a direct bolt in. even the plug plugs right into the walbro. taking out the rear seats is also very easy. It should be in your Helms manual also. I'm to lazy to explain the whole thing, sorry.

You should only be concerned if your at WOT and getting those temps, Its a different story when your ecu switches to open loop (WOT). Sounds normal to me, if I floor mine it goes back to 700c.

my tuning is off anyway! It may be the timing curves on the chip I was sent. So are you saying I may not need a higher capacity pump?

which walbro do i get? there are different pressure ratings on those high flow pumps? who is a good source for them?

you NEED a pump before you go to the dyno! who ever told you that the stock fuel pump will be good up to 12psi with 440s is FULL OF ****

With my idle fuel pressure set at 40psi with an AEM regulator, my max fuel pressure was 60psi running 10psi of boost. Even with that pressure, we were running 85-100% duty cycle at high rpms. We turned up the pressure 5 more psi, and then the fuel pump would go up to 65psi as boost came on but then it would start to drop down.
This is with the stock pump.

Also i recommend you get a fuel pressure regulator that increases fuel pressure with boost.

Don't need an FMU with the Hondata. It will control the 440s and allow custom fuel and timing maps for boost.

I have a Walbro 255HP pump on the way. Will get it in before I dyno!!

thanks.
