what's an ecu do?
Ok, this is a new subject for me...I don't know much about ecu's at all. Can someone explain the benefits for running certain ecu's and what goes into the conversion.
I've got a 99 ls ecu and I'm going turbo soon, I'm wondering, is there a better ecu that I should look into? Oh yeah, I'm not going to be running hondata.
If anyone can shed some light on the subject or show me where I can read up on some information that would be great.

the ecu controls the engine.
Generally you should stick with the ecu that goes with the engine, but in some cases it's cheaper to use an ecu from another car.Like in my case it was cheaper to buy a 93 gs-r ecu then a 94-95 del sol vtec.
Sometimes when people do swaps (like from a d16 to a b18) they will use the stock civic (p-28) ecu ut just reprogram it because it's cheaper.

I have the orginal engine, b18b. But I read posts before that said that older ecu's (obd0 & obd1) are more performance oriented and the obd2 (mine) is more economic/emissions oriented. Would it be better to change? If so, what and why?
