whats the difference between a Ls Block and Gsr block...
and which one would be better for a turbo setup, i know compression and such is a little different between both, i've heard the LS is known as a good turbo block, but which one can handle and put out overall more power?
Gsr block has oil squirters and a ls block doesnt. Also has oil feed at the top of the block for the head.
Umm...i dont see how an ls block would be better for turbo. Gsr has more power stock and will have more power boosted. Go with the gsr block.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the gsr block have a slightly slower piston speed, so if you are turbo and VTEC it would be better? I guess if you are not going VTEC, it would not be as much of a big deal.

here what i know LS has stronger block with more torgue ideal for running turbo some say with gsr some like the vtec can create more power with little boost. if i'm missing something or wrong correct me.

the main differences are mentioned above.
THE GSR block has oil squirtes, oil feed for vtec on deck of block. As well as crank girdle deeper oil pan to handle the girdle.
The LS block has no squirters no oil passages for vtec no crank girdle nothing.. its 2 bolt mains just like GSR fairly strong.

go with the gsr block but not until u get some damn rims and get rid of those dinner plates.....haha damn you jeff
the GSR block has a C after the 18 and the LS block has an A or B after the 18
but seriously, the blocks are pretty much the same except what everyone has covered here that the GSR block was made for the VTEC head while the LS block wasnt.
most people go with a LS block for boost mainly for the fact that the engine is cheaper to get and install and also the stock compression ratio is lower. but as for cylinder strength im pretty sure they both are the same.

the ls actually has slower piston speeds, the deck height is different also, the ls actually has a taller deck. ( not by much). i see no problems with building an ls over a gsr.... if its done the right way. gsr's cost way to much for some people and why pay $600 or even $700 for a gsr bottom end , when you can buy a complete ls long block for like $200.
