Custom 88mm CP 9.0:1 pistons with swain tech top gold coat and pc9 side skirt coat.

CP is the piston of my choice as well, and yes those in the picture are the ones I use.

must have run them lean, or inadequate cooling (lack of (or inadequate) piston oil squirters) could be a plausable cause.

I have used JE and Arias, both with great sucess.

pistons will melt if they overheat.

If you boost on the freeway and you overheat your pistons (melt) them, you have inadequate piston cooling, this could be from several different things, but mainly its from detonation and running lean, either one of theese two things quickly destroys even the most expensive pistons, and their coatings.

pistons can also overheat due to the thermal stresses placed on them, and insufficient cooling.

Most factory FI motors will have a very good piston squirter setup for cooling and lubrication.

That is one reason that the 2jz pistons can withstand 900+ WHP without letting go. Aside from the fact that they are hypertuectic (from what i have seen)

what about an oil cooler if you cool the oil that is hitting the bottom of the piston it should cool it the best

All the pistons that you posted will work just fine. I would go with 9:1 compression pistons.
