Whichever piston you get, make sure you get a teflon coat... very nice!

Cp has tighter tolerances on the pistons, which result in better overall fitment per cylinder. I prefer 9:1 compression since i like to make my power on pump gas, while others prefer 10:1 to make more power on race gas.

The main thing is to have the proper piston to wall clearance and good tuning

JE,CP,Wiseco,Arias,Ross,BAE, are all good for the task

so i talked to Tom at Payn Tech. and he said that CP are the best pistons on the market right now. So most likely i'm gonna be going with those. Now if I hone out my cylinders, can i still get another 83mm piston? or is there gonna be blow by b/c the cylinder wall is now that little bit bigger?

you have to check the diamiter and see if it is ok with the new clearances

if you are just breaking the glase and it isnt that bad you should be ok

is there a ridge on the top of the cylender wall?

he is going to be running high boost on race gas but to my knowledge he is running it everyday also

i am thinking 9:1 so it stays safe he already detonated so bad it messed a forged piston up bad

yeah, i think 9:1 it is. just to be safe, but after i get these new pistons in and everything back together, i'm not even gonna drive it until i have my hondata in the car.

when you get it together you can drive it but dont go crazy and crank the boost up

best bet like you said is to get it tunned

arias for the money i believe are the best, tested them on over 10 project cars, boost, high comp. n/a and nitrous, never one problem, also run je, no personal experience with either cp or weisco, just my two cents

people with ross pistons, whats ur experience with them?

I ask this because mine are damn loud at cold starts until It warms up. I had srp awhile back and those were almost like stock no noise.

Cp has so many votes, yet i dont think that many people are using them, reminds me of the thread when everyone picked ef1 cams but nobody except 1-2 people had experience with them

I agree.
Ive been told by my machinest who had some custom made for a customers motor that they were nothing special and he was more impressed with other companies shelf pistons.

Then again, I have no first hand knowledge of them. I havent voted, just cause I havent had any bad experiences as of yet with most brand name pistons---stock pistons are another story, or any cast piston for that matter. Also, I think if most people have had a bad experince with brandX piston then most times than not it was a tuning issue that damaged them.

talked to the guy that built my motor, and he said it wasn't detonation, it was that i did to many highway blasts and the pistons got so hot and started to deteriorate he said.
