what wastegate spring for 500whp daily driver?
deciding on what pressure of wastegate spring for a friends build....it's going to be in a tial 38mm...and he's wanting to run over 22psi for the track, but still is going to daily drive it so doesn't want to have super high boost daily...
will a 1bar work good?

agreed..that would let you go up to 2bar (what most map sensors read too) and a 15psi low for the street is perfect.
1bar spring is what i use in my tial 40mm

I run a .8 Bar spring BIUT would like to upgrade to a 1 bar spring BECAUSE my Profec B will only go so high depending on the WG spring, I have got it to do 30psi . Now keep in mind that C will be able to INCREASE his boost pressure easily with a boost controller BUT he will not be able to decrease his boost lower than the wastgeate spring! Well actually he can BUT Only slightly maybe 1-2psi, if you get your boost source for the wastgeate before the ic at the turbo then the wastgeate will control boost at the turbo then you lose about 1-2psi usually through the IC to the intake manifold BUT if you get your wastgeate signal from the intake manifold then the boost will be controlled by what was seen at the intake mani. Make sense? Wastegate to turbo=11psi at turbo travels through ic to intake mani=9psi(just examples) , Boost signal taken fom Intake mani will be 11psi because it has already gone through the ic

Do you have any trouble controlling the boost?

I heard it isnt good but i ran 15psi on a 6psi spring and it works fine...no creeping...no spikeing...nothing bad.

I ran into the same problem. I have the 6.5psi spring in my Tial 35mm. Dynoed, but couldn't go past 13psi no matter how much I turned up the boost controller. I ordered a .8bar spring from wiredspeedlab. From what I understand, after so much boost (rule of thumb is twice the spring rate as mentioned), the pressure is so great on the wastegate spring that it just opens automatically and bleeds boost.

Really? I guess I need another spring. Ran 20+ PSI on a 6LB spring. I need to swap it out anyway. Why is it bad to run more than double the rating?
