what usually causes boosted stock blocks to go............
is it power level, torque, bad tune, detonation, and when one goes what usually blows
probably all of the above depending on the car
just curious as i am a 1.8T VW guy and it's usually torque that kills our motors..

power/torque/stress all contributes to engine failure on stock blocks once a certain power level is reached.
a bad tune/dentonation will just cause engine failure sooner.

well in VW 1.8T's too much torque tends to bend our rodsor breack them = hole in block

to much torque in a honda (if there is such a thing) tends to break axels, diff's, trannys and clutches.

You should search, but I’m bored so here it goes.
Pistons are the weak point on a stock Honda block. They have weak ringlands. When you boost an engine heat is the biggest by product. The stock Honda piston clearance is super tight , like .001. When a piston starts to become heat saturated they will expand a piston with only .001” of clearance can only expand so much before disaster strikes. Good tuning and knowing the limits of your engine can alleviate this to a cretin extent the general rule of thumb you will hear around here is they (stock bottom end) are good for 300 hp. I think that’s pretty accurate, but a bad tune or a long pull in boost can negate that. Hope this helped and maybe some more knowledgeable will chime in to confirm, deny, or add to.
