Default What turbo to use? Please reply!

to shorten everything up i have a mildly built LS/VTEC and I am currently working on a turbo kit. I will be running a S1 tranny, with LSD. Since I will have mad torque off the line, and mad power up top, what turbo would produce enough power to get like 400 to 500 whp?

I don't know about that "MAD" torque off the line but I'd go with a T3/T4. What trim is all up to how you want the power-band to look. Also what compression and how much boost you want. Too many variables there just list what you are planning to run otherwise no one will hekp you.

Well I just figured an s1 will help me get out of the hole. Would a straight T4, be any good......would it be a surge of power at a high RPM.

Yes power would come in like a surge. If you wanna run a T4 go ahead you'll get more power up high with a full T4, but you'll lack on the low end especially with the lag unless you go ball-bearig. I just read your doing this on bored stock sleeves. Not a good idea if your going to boost. Trim levels are measurements of A/R and the . A is the actual internal dimensions of the housing, and R is the distance from the center line of the center section to the outside-edge of the housing. Divide A by R that's the housing trim. Impeller trim is a bit more difficult than that. The classification for example are say T3, T4, and T04e are a few that you might recognize. I would say stages are packages with specific trim levels of impeller, and specific trim levels of housings to fit a specific application. That a whole lot of specifics. Anyone else with turbo questions?

i'd like a bit more info on the t4 if ya got some time what rpm range would a straight t4 work in? would it be worthless to use a straight t4 for the 350whp range? the car also is going to be street-driven but mostly drag w/a semi-built ls/vtec as well.

basically i'm interested in how a straight t4 would perform on the street, or would it be to peaky? thanks
