Default What turbo is this?

Cold side clearly says air research with no significant looking numbers on it. hot side is a 58 A/R. a buddy of mine has had it sitting in a box for years and im wondering the goods and bads of swapping this out with my 42/48 i have on my single cam right now. with my turbo i have now i hit full boost at 2 grand which is awsome but this turbo always leaves u wanting more. any info or advice would be much apreciated.

sounds like a garrett; usually they have air research stamped on the turbine housing.

Do you have a caliper gauge? if so measure the inducer and exducer of both wheels.

seems big for a saab turbo
looks like the bearing housing mounts to the engine which makes me blive its a semi truck turbo. either way, that turbine housing is too big for a sohc

was it a saab truck? lol

Cuz the newer 93's have a tiny gt17 on em, and a bunch of the mid 80's saabs had straight garrett t3's....never heard of one with a big t4 on it??

With those measuremeants, it comes out to 187 on the hotside, 60 on the cold.

Trim = (Inducer^2/Exducer^2)x100

[(exducer)(exducer)/(inducer)(inducer)]x100 = turbine wheel trim

That is the hotside formula!
