Default What turbo should I run?

Well I am going to turbo my 92 CIvic Hatch with B16a. I want to piece together my own kit, I jsut finished installing a Greddy Kit on my friends RSX Type S. IT is running 7Psi, until it gets tuned. ANywayz, I want a turbo that will spool fairly quick, but still be able to get some good boost. I am going to Boost the B16a witha stock block. As of now it has Skunk 2 Stage 1 cams, I am going to upgrade to dual valve springs and retainers before I turbo, for added assurance. WHat turbo should I run? I will eventually upgrade pistons n stuff, but for now what would be a good Turbo to run, I am wont be exceeding 300HP on stock pistons, so what would be good. Also what has anyone else experienced for HP with a Boosted B16? Also, what does trim mean on a turbo?

agreed

this turbo (w/ a .63 a/r) made 410 whp, 280 tq on my 84mm B16 @ 16 psi @ 8200 rpm. It later made 365 whp, 260 tq on my 84.5mm b16 @ 14 psi @ 9300 rpm (but peaked way earlier than 9300). Both on pump gas. We'll see what it makes on my 85mm b16 on race gas ... what can i say? i blow up motors like it's my job...

Spool times aren't that great though ... you could probably use the .48 a/r (i think this turbo is available with that anyway) and increase spool times a bit. I get full boost by roughly 4000-4500 rpm (it's been a while since i've driven the car)

never heard of that turbo ... i've heard of the garrett gt28rs though .. .which is a good turbo

a buddy of mine has the gt2871, which is the same as a 28rs but with a 71mm wheel as opposed to the 60mm (might be wrong about the 60mm, but the 2871 is bigger either way)

his is on a stock block b16, makes 295 whp @ 13 psi.

The only problem with the gt series is their price ... i think he paid 1025 for that turbo, where any of the standard t3/t04e turbos go for ~600 ( give or take depending on where you buy from)

like i said, a .48 a/r is gonna give you just about equal spool as the gt series, and save you some money in the long run

Yea it is the GT I was talking about. Does ur friend have upgraded internals? I am going t ouse dual valve springs and Ti Retainers. I would DEF be happy with 295 @ 13PSI. I will be using hodnata to tune.

bone stock b16 motor. In fact, the head has never been taken off the block.

rld-fab equal length manifold, 2.5 inch charge piping, precision intercooler, hondata s300, edelbrock intake manifold

it's a very, very basic turbo kit on a fairly conservative tune. They wanted to see 200 tq out of it stock block ... and ended up with 209 or something.

although, a 2.1 gsr and a t67 are coming next summer for that bad boy

That's pretty sick, that makes me happy to know. Yea liek i said I would def upgrade internals and use the hodnata S300 because S200 with boost costs like 100 bucks less than than the S300.

s300 is nice because it benefits the self-tuner

if you don't plan on messing with it ever, save the 100 bucks. I bought s300 just incase we decided to do some street tuning on our own, and now i'm glad we did, because we'll end up street tuning it before it goes to evans tuning since there's such a long wait

Well it's not that fasct why I like the S300, but more of the fact that the S300 is built right into the ECU, where as the s200 is the blue box, I like an all inwone.

Also, S300 has real time datalogging and all of that stuff. The S300 is basically KPRO for B series.
