Default what piston to use

hello
I've got a b16bare block, and b16 head.
I have eagle b16 rods as well, with b18c crank.
what pistons should I get to achive 10:1 compression with this setup ?

I could not find any..

any advices ? I cant change the block. I need to get around 2 liters with these parts..

Not possible.

In order to get a 2.0L, you need 84mm bore and 89mm stroke. The B16 is an 81mm bore with a 77.4mm stroke. Also, if you're planning to use a GSR crank, you will need the corresponding GSR rods...not B16 rods

Once you have that all sorted out, finding a set of pistons is the easy part. If you look in the www.hondamarketplace.com you can find several vendors selling CP, Wiseco, Arias, JE, etc pistons with the compression you want

b16 block w/darton MIDs
87.2mm b18c crank
b16 eagle rods (134mm)
0.08" cometic gasket

I need to find some (maybe custom) 84mm pistons to fit in to get the 10:1 compression out of this setup..
it makes 1932cc and it's enough.

how can you help ? is it impossible to fit the b16 rods on b18c crank ?

That combination wont work. The b16 block is too short for the GSR crank. Any rod combination will put the pistons out of the hole. You would need a custom length rod to resolve this OR use a taller B18x block OR just run a b16 crank in the b16 block and keep it simple.

Use this calculator to test out your combinations.

is there any way to find rods maybe 2-3 mm shorter ?

actually I heard that there are custom pistons which the pin location moved up, so you can lower the comp ratio and dont hit anywhere.

is it true / possible ?

There is no way to mend this issue.
You have two options:
1. Use a b16 crank
or
2. Use a b18 block as Muckman said.

...and neither option puts you at a 2.0L. For that you would need a B20 or 84mm sleeved b18/20 with an LS (89mm) crank

ok thanks
but one more question.

is it possible with an LS crank and short compression height CUSTOM pistons ?
is it tried before successfully ?

example :

You can't use a LS crank. Its longer stroke which puts your pistons even further out of the hole. You need to go shorter.

When I ordered my custom pistons I was told you can lower the compression height a maximum of approx .130" which would still put you .040" above the deck. You could resolve that with a .070~.075" thick Cometic head gasket. This is still a terrible idea.

ok, I found someone selling his LS crank, b16 eagle stock length rods, and custom CP pistons, and he tells that the comp. ratio is 9.5:1 with his stuff in a b16 block.

here's the link

he doesnt wanna sell the pistons alone.

what's the "cheapest" custom pistons brand I can find ?

Get the piston specs and put them into the compression calculator. See what piston to deck height comes up.

ok, I have the pistons with the LS crank.
pistons are custom made by CP with 9.5 compression for B16 block & head and LS crank.

pistons are low height compared to stock P30 pistons.
is this a problem for the working mechanics of the engine ?
did u use this kind of short pistons before ?

also : as you see, the CP pistons are brushed on the skirts. do you think it will cause any problems to re-use them ?

and in th second photo, the CP upgraded pins are black-lined.. or smth like this. do you think I can re-use them ? is it a problem ?

Thanks !

1.) pistons are low height. is this a problem for the working mechanics of the engine ?
Its not ideal but I dont think it will be a problem. Perhaps someone else would have a more technical answer

2.) did u use this kind of short pistons before?
Not that short. On my custom pistons I reduced the comp height by only .005" but I could have moved it down another .126" if I needed. Do do you know what the comp height is on those pistons?

3.)the CP pistons are brushed on the skirts. do you think it will cause any problems?
No, they dont look bad. Take a fine grit scotch brite pad and polish the skirts a little.

4.) the CP upgraded pins are black-lined.. is it a problem ?
I dont really like the look of those. The discoloration could be a sign of oil starvation there. Do the pins move freely through the pin boss? Roll them on a flat surface, do they wobble? Try to polish it with the scotch brite pad. Does the black come off? If not then I would replace.

So it's no problem to use it.. I will use a gt30r on this setup.. With your experience, whats the max rpm on this setup would u do ?

On some CPs the pins are black nitride or dlc coated.. do not try to remove it
