For a 99 dx with turbo????
what is the best for reliability?

 

I personally like Mobil 1 but you can use whatever brand synthetic you prefer. As for the viscosity, stick between 10w30 and 20w50.

But..why would you use 10w30-20w50 and not the 5w30 that honda recommends?

 

i use 5w30 in the winter and 15w50 in the summer

 

One reason is less chance of leaks with high viscosity.

 

i dunno..i used dino oil for about 1,000 miles (5w30 like honda recommends) and the **** burned through almost one quart. Before the turbo the oil never burned at all and to be honest i never really boosted the car until recently when i tuned. I switched to synthetic 10w30. Hopefully it'll last longer...

 

I've been using royal purple 20w50. I change it every 3500 miles and even with 75k miles, the head looks new inside.
