Default What makes a turbo setup non AC compatible?

Is it because the turbo hits the radiator type thing for the AC, or is it because the compressor is in the way? Whats the deal?

So usually the radiator thing for the AC (wtf is that thing called anyways?) needs to be taken out, right?

I really REALLY want AC and a gt40r in a crx with a jdm front end...

I wonder if i can relocate that to in front of the factory radiator? Maybe get a smaller one from another car..

sidwinder.. is that where the turbo is moved over towards the passenger side of the bay? I saw a car like that before, and i think he did it to keep AC but i cant find any manifolds like that anywhere =[

AC compatible turbo setups mostly depend on clearance for the AC compressor. Make sure you get a manifold that places the turbo (and downpipe!) in a location where it wont bother your AC

you need an ac compatible manifold for sure. i would try to get a down pipe that was designed to run with the mani and turbo so it would all line up. normally the down pipe can only be around 2.5 inches in order to clear the compressor, but 3 inch set-ups are possible in some applications but are more expensive. then the other issue is when the mani is not set-up right, the turbo could hit the ac condensor or refrigerant lines.
