Currently i have the standard drag gen 2 spearco intercooler on my set up, but im going to need one that will have better flow for 450ish whp. Ive done a little searching around and have some ideas, but what would some companies as well as dimensions you guys would recommend? List some prices too if you can

Your best bet is the PWR 24x8x3 core. I went with the 22x8x3 core, and probably should have went a little bigger. The 24" core should be able to support around 500whp. The pwr's are 485.00 for the 22x8x3 core, and 510.00 for the 24x8x3 core from ninesecrx or earl. I think those prices are correct, dont quote me.

Ive seen this same dimensions make like 520whp on a SR20....

 

To tell you the truth it probably is. The honda crowd tends to hype everything up so that you believe you need the biggest turbo, and biggest intercooler, the biggest everything to make good power. The standard drag 22x2.25x6.5" core will support over 400whp. DSM's that are into the 10's have used the same size or slighty smaller intercooler's.

it's a greddy type 24. i think it measures like LARGE x HUGE. sorry, not too sure on the exact #'s. i need to go outside to measure it

 

I heard they usually flow up to 350whp, any one else have inputs on this? You are right, the honda crowd does hype up on size as opposed to function for some reason, leave it to the ricers i guess.

 

hehe, i really only bought that I/C becasue it was in stock at one of the local shops. he also gave me a really good price on it. i actually wanted the smaller type 31 since that was all i really needed. it can be kinda hard to get parts in the islands some times.

 

Yeah no joke. I just need the width. I had the type 31 and you could see the endtanks on the sides and I dont want that with my next i/c. Mine wont be that tall

 

Size isn't anything. If the intercooler doesen't flow well at your targeted cfm then the pressure drop being caused will be causing big problems. Get some datasheets on intercooler flow. Maxium Boost has a good section on how to properly size an intercooler to your application.
