my firend just bought a junk turbo from a local yard. THe thing is, he doesn't know what kind of car it came from. The exhaust flange it a t3(tried it on my manifold), but the discharge flange is way different that the t3's...this thing only has like 4 bolts forming kind of a square. My t3 housing has like 5-6 bolts all over the side of the housing, plus my discharge(downpipe)flnage too.

is it still a t3 though, becuase it has the same flange as my manifold?

 

its probably a old volvo turbo or a thunderbird

 

yeah, the junk yard guy said something about volvos too...hahaha. THe thing was, e wasn't sure about it. SO it's a t3 though right?

 

its t3 with a super 60 trim if i remember my volvo days. It should boost really good. 2.3 liter is the volvo model of the day.

 

I know my fiancee's mother has an older 2.4 volvo turbo and I'm continually surprised how hard that thing pulls down low; boost comes on really quick and from what I've heard they have the capacity to boost a LOT more than stock - should be a pretty good turbo for a street driven Civic/Teg as long as it's not leaking or anything.

 

Both the Volvo and thunderbird turbos run the standard T3 exhaust flange and downpipe flange. I've had both of them on my car.

 

oh, so the 4 bolt discharge thing is normal on t3's?
