What To Do With These Things (Pic Inside)
Hello, as many are aware I'm working on getting my car setup for turbo in the spring. I have the turbo timer in, I know how to do the fuel pump and oil return lines and feed lines, tapping the oil pan, I have my charge pipes on lockdown and my manifold is welded. What I'm concerned with is what's in the following picture (for now of course)
I know the vacuum line (yellow tube) needs to be taken off and I have a choice of either putting a breather filter on the valve cover, or running it to the "intake" that will run to the turbine housing with a filter, but the question I have is the electrical plug that seats in the intake tube. (Right of the yellow tube in the red circle) What is it? What does it do? Do I need to connect it elsewhere or just cut the sucker out? Thanks in advance guys, it's a fountain of knowledge in here!

you will need to put it in your charge pipes when they are finished, it is your iat *intake air temperature sensor
very important, not sure if any d series have them on the intake manifold because that would be my first choice of a place to put it

So do you think I should just drill a hole in the charge pipe that runs up to the throttle body and shove it back in there, generally in the same place it is now but in the charge pipe?

as long as its on the cold side of your charepipe or in your intake manifold it should be fine, the only problem with it being on your charge pipe is it may have excess pressure and pop the plug out if its not a tight enough fit

AFAIK, the 99-00 SI's and most, if not all, 96+ civics have the IAT sensor before the t-body. Most pre-96 models had a port on the rear of the manifold, or on runner 1 or 4.
The best solution would be to get a bolt-on style IAT from a pre-96, then weld a flange onto the charge pipe to accept the sensor.
