Default What to do to stripped threads on the turbo on the exh. side?

I have a t3/t4 that has 2 stripped threads on the exh. side where the DP bolts up. They guys at napa suggested a heli-coil but I think that it would back out or wouldnt last because of the heat. What should I do? tia

Tap it to a larger size or take it to your local shop/machine shop and have them do it.

It happens alot when you don't use stainless steel dp bolts. Just retap the threads.

Are all the threads stripped out or are just the top few screwed up?

If its the latter you can buy a cheap tap & die set from http://www.harborfreight.com and retap it.

Ive been there before. If you tackle it yourself, it can be done w/ a selection of easy-outs, a drill, and a tap to do a final clean up. Goodluck.

I have tapped and threaded a few things before. I dunno how excited I am to try it on my turbo.... thanks for all the help.... I believe its an 8mm bolt, should I try tapping for a 10mm bolt?

suprisingly those coils work pretty well, i used to use them on my oil pans and such, they withstand heat very well. but you can also retap, which i am a fan of as well. i've retapped quite a lot of threads, i think that works best also. plus if you have your own kit, it is free, just time consuming/somewhat.
