that is the intake air temp sensor....

depending on your EMS you might be able to run a gm or aem iat sensor which is threaded and wont pop out under boost

Definitely not a good idea.

Tuned a friend's car like that and the "reported" temps really flucuate making it really hard to tune.

Switched back to the Z6 mani and the tuning was cake.

get a obd1 sensor and connector. make a flange for it and weld it to your air filter pipe.

I have that same issue with my boosted b16. Because my old SOHC had that sensor in the intake pipe also. Now i have a b16 could i just use the iat sensor on the b16 manifold or do i still need to keep that sensor in the charge pipe?

I drilled a hole in my charge pipe and put the sensor in it. It only popped out occasionally when I went over 20 PSI of boost, so I put a zip-tie over it and it never popped out again.

its real simple. Drill a hole and use that same grommet that came with your intake. Thats what i did and mine has never popped out in 3 years even with around 15psi
