Default What crank work?

Ok, the crank came out yesterday. Now the question is what work is worth the money?

Balancing?

Micropolishing?

Knife-edging?

All opinions welcome and encouraged!

IMHO, balancing is a must, micropolishing doesn't hurt anything and cuts down friction and knife edging weakens the crank and is too expensive for too little gain (if any).

Depends on how much hp you're trying to achieve. In most cases balancing the crank is good enough. If you want to extract as much hp as possible go ahead and lighten it up by knife-edging it and micro polish it if your budget allows.

Balancing is very good to do. Micropolishing is good also for only $40, but knife edge is not worth it IMHO.

What kind of gains do you get from these different mods? what do you get from balancing and what do you get from polishing?

No gains. Just higher/safer revs. I've heard the crank has some insane tolerances though from the factory so I'm a little hesitant to mess with it.

Knife Edging is not beneficial in a Honda.

The Crank does not pass through Oil, just Oil Vapor...So Knife Edging would provide a VERY VERY VERY Small help. DSM Guys Knife Edge theirs, because the 4G63 Crank actually sits in some Oil. You will see some benefit, but your going to Weaken it and waste alittle money...So unless your building an All-Race Motor and you need those last 3 Horsepower Dont Bother.
