My engine (B18B1) has been rebuilt with ross pistons (8.8:1cr), eagle rods,, bore has change to 81.5mm, my turbo is a TD05 from a talon fuel management is SMC+.

Before I used to boost at 8 psi and I did'nt have any device to retard timing so it was set at 8 degree, now I have a BTM 1 degree of reatard per boost and it is set at 16 degrees on the distributor,,,,, the problem is: it only boosts at 5 psi use to be 8,, I dont have any boost controller. And my vaccum seems fine 22in.Hg at idle

what could be the problem??

Check for a leak in your piping.

why pull that much timing? i run stock timing and retard 1/3 degree per pound of boost and it's fine. try 1/2 degree per pound of boost and tune it via wideband.

 

you think it could be due to the timing being to retarded? could it be the cause?
