What clutch setup is best for boost?
Just lost my clutch last nite in my N/a '96 Gs-R...
My winter project is a turbo build on my GSR and its already all planned and parts are on their way.
There are so many different setups and clutch designs, and I just want to see what everyone runs or thinks would be best for my setup.
> I need a clutch that can take 400+ whp
> ^ I dont want a clutch that takes all I have to push it in
> Im not going to just be dropping the clutch at everylight and slipping into gears but I want it to have at least 90% increase over stock torque holding specs.
Let me know what you think I should do, BRAND and STAGE/ MODEL ...
Also post on what setups to go with or stay away from due to experience you guys have had.
Brands I have kind-of looked into thus far include : Exedy and ACT
Thanks for all the help in advance !

This is your first choice and recommended
But if you WON'T spend the money on a Twin Disc, a Competition Clutch Stage 5 will suffice sir You can also get it with the upgraded pressure plate but then it is pretty stiff, the standard pressure plate is lighter than stock. Let me know when you are ready for a clutch and I will give you a great deal on one.

Re: What clutch setup is best for boost? (boostedcivicsir)
not to jack the thread but...
what clutch/pressure plate package would suit for a na setup pushing 150-200 hp (no idea torque) and later for boost, 300-400 hp (no idea torque) ???
still dunno whether to get a weaker clutch to start off with on the na build and get a better setup when i go boost. Or to just start off with a tough clutch that i can beat on it whenever i want to and will still grip

it wasnt the fact of arguing with the damn thing, it was changing it after every single ****** pass that killed me. But that was about budget and at the time it was all the budget would call for. i like to see and of my customers who are building a turbo with any real potential to get a twin disk right off the bat, it will save you alot of money in the long run.

Do me a favor and post elsewhere - Im trying to obtain info. on a GSR with over 400whp - not a n/a thinking about turbo with his facts all jumbled (i.e. torque what?)
Not trying be mean - I just dont want my advisors to get distracted

400 whp, save your money and get a twin disk like everyone said.
A very long time ago, my street car was pushing 450whp and I broke 3 ClutchMaster Stage 5 clutchs. The splines on the shaft were all smoothed out.
Learn from others mistakes, like mines, and go for twin disk from the start. I went all out and got a tilton but that's just me back then.
