What characteristics make a good turbo intake manifold
I am building a B18c1 and am currently looking for an intake manifold that would be good for 400 h.p. with high boost and still be good for low boost/daily driving. What do you guys think of the Venom IM or save the money and get a Skunk2 IM? and, yes, I did a search but did not produce much.
TIA

I`ve heard the ITR intake manifold is pretty good, even the Skunk2, cause it is equal to the ITR one.

i just ordered the JG Victor X Manifold.
From the testing, it looks like it produces good gains over stock ITR manifold.

I am going to be getting the JG Victor X. I think it will be a good manifold for FI. Here is a pic of a dyno on a high boosting integra only diffrence is the JR Manifold.

Re: What characteristics make a good turbo intake manifold (2000_Civic_Si)
IMO sheet metal intakes like Venom and HP make the most power for FI racing.
And in 2nd place are the JG Victor and skunk 2 and Type R. The JG Victor beating out the other two.
Since I have two stock GSR intake manifolds, im gonna save some $$$. Im gonna have a pro race shop cut about a two inch length from the intake runners and reattach the runners. Then port the manifold where they know best. Then im gonna polish the whole thing off to a high polish. When I need more power ill buy the JG or HP or Venom.

u have a picture of the inside of the plenum by any chance... i wanted to see the inside of one

sorry, didnt take one inside. But i'll tell you it is smooth, I had STR, skunk2, ITR before and I like STR but way over priced and seems venom had better finish inside and out. You should see the polish of this thing. Skunk2 , weak for turbo.

Re: What characteristics make a good turbo intake manifold ([Evo]Hybrid)
Nobody has addressed my original question regarding the characteristics of a good (or best) turbo IM. Is it longer runners, bigger plenum, etc????

Re: What characteristics make a good turbo intake manifold (1)
The plenum should be triple the displacement of the engine in size. Thats the easy part. The power is found in the runners. long runners will produce more torque and shorter ones will be better for high rpms. But the key in a good runner is to have it taper. This will increase velocity right before you enter the cylinder head. This is where many intake manifolds currently available for honda's fail. The best manifold available is a Hogan's. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for, PERIOD.
If you don't what to spend alot, get the JG intake, dollar for dollar thats the best available.

Re: What characteristics make a good turbo intake manifold (1)
A good turbo manifold will have a large plenum, with smooth transitions from plenum to runner and port and after that, it just depends on the turbo, engine size, operating rpms of the motor, and desired use of the car. I personally choose the JG, but I've seen the Skunk2 work on a car that generates 670whp and revs to 10k. Keep in mind that the larger the plenum, the longer the spool, generally speaking. I really don't like the box style manifolds like STR/Venom, but they seem to work ok.

Re: What characteristics make a good turbo intake manifold (VaporTrail)
Has anyone used the Golden Eagle Intake manifold? I am thinking of running this one if I can find some positive feedback. If I dont go with this one I'm going with the JG-Edelbrock one.
