Default What is the best Engine Management for my B16A1 CRX VTEC Turbo?

Hi

I have a CRX VTEC with a T3/04 turbo on it.

I am running 370cc injectors on stock internals and 8psi of boost, what is the best ECU management to get?? I am currently using a chip which was built for the turbo but my crx is under fuelled, it maxes out at 6700 rpm. after that there isnt realy any fuel going through.

I am installing a walbro high flow fuel pump 255 this weekend. Once this is installed this should help the fuelling problems but i still want to get it set up properly.

I have heard of the following Engine management.

ZDYNE
HONDATA
Greddy E Manage

Which one do you think is the best?? whats everyones thoughts on getting engine management? What do people think of the Greddy E Manage??

Cheers

Dale

i like the hondata. I'm currently using that in my EF now. I run a SOHC vtec, with 440's @ 10psi all day long. Stock bottom, but a thicker head gasket, and a slightly built head. Haven't had any problems yet.

We are currently engaged in a discussion about Hondata with the PR3 ECU. Anyone with educated input please join in.

I did not have a good experience with my hondata on my obd-0 car, read more here and here

none of the problems i had with my hondata changed when i switched from obd-0 to obd-1. I had the same problems before and after the change over.

Are you the Dale the sold UK clusters through John (Composimo)? If so, thanks for sourcing one for me

I have the same setup as you, and recently got a Hondata. It is not installed yet, but from what I have seen and read, you will be very happy with it.
Are there Hondata dealers over there? Does your car run 2 O2's?

Hi Leed

Yer it is me, that sold the clusters to John. What hondata setup are you running as there is quite abit ot choose from, reading the different setups there are. If i fit my uprated fuel pump i have heard that my car might idle higher? Do you think this will happen?

What do you think of the ZDYNE ecu?

What Psi are you running on your turbo?

CHeers

My crx does run 2 O2s.

I want to get my crx running right as im short of making good power on this setup.

Its currently making 205bhp but it could be making 240 ish if it didnt run lean on fuel as it maxes out at 6500 rpm and after that the power drops. You can see the effect on the Air Fuel Ratio Meter as after 6500rpm it goes into the red then off scale which is a little worrying!

All in all, the best advice I think you can get is to find a tuner whom you will have tune your vehicle. Then discuss what unit's he's used to tuning with and go from there. That's how I decided to go with the Accell DFI Gen 7.
As for Electromotive.......it's looks promising, but if you ever notice, knowone uses it? That was a decideing factor for me. I couldn't find anyone in the area who knew about it either, but it looks promiseing though!

Yo Dale - Nice to see u made it to the Forum... My recommendation would be the Hondata bearing in mind cost and tunability (Auto tune). However I know John runs the Z-Dyne.... but it is a lot more expensive..

Anyways... did u manage to get those urls for me? The Walbro and the Chroming place?

Cheers and good luck.

I have been running a S200 on my CRX for about a month now and its been great. There were some bugs at the beginning but most have been solved. They involved OBD1 conversion problems mostly. I never imagined how fun boosting can be with correct fuel valves throughout the RPM range!!

The only problem I have is software-hardware.

We can tune it very well and have no problems with it what so ever. TEC gets and a from us. almost all the cars we have installed it on are daily drivers too...

Z-dyne !
I have put it in many cars, It will read up to 28 lbs , stable to 12,00 rpms and is super user friendly.
I have ran one in my personel car and I wouldn't use anything else, Plus no burning chips, tune while driving and comes with excelent base maps.
