Default Welding an elbow to an intercooler

Would it be okay if I weld a 90 degree elbow to the inlet of my intercooler?

Any difference performance wise? I always though it was best to keep as much of the charge pipe hard as possible. IF this is the case, I can cheat in some other difficult areas too

It's OK to weld on 90s on intercoolers. We do it on our CRX installs al the time.

Most people use tons of conections because they don't have access to welder.

Most of our stuff has 4 silicone conectors in the whole thing.
