Default water temp guage

so my crx is turbo and i been having problems with it running hot. i installed a autometer water temp guage. i used the sending unit that came with it. now my fan isnt working because obviously the old wire to the water temp sensor isnt plugged into anything anymore so its not telling the fan when to come on. so i tried to tap the old wire into the wire going to the sending unit but it causes the guage not to work. as soon as i unplug the old wire it works fine. anyone have any solutions to this? i dont want to hard wire the fan either. let me know what you guys think. thanks

youre supposed to use the sensor that comes with the gauge. you should leave the oem one alone and find another place to put the autometer one.

i drilled and tapped the radiator hose water neck on the head and placed it there but you can also use one of these.
