Is water injection worth it?
Hey guys, I'm hoping you can help me out here. I have a JRSC and am looking up up the boost to 8-9psi. What is the best way to do this? Endyn stepper pulley seems the easiest but I was wonder what you guys think.
Also, at 8 or 9 psi, is water injection worth it? I've heard very mixed reviews on it and am hoping some people here can help me clear it up a little.
Thanks.

it is def. worth it. I am running the spearco water injection kit. I love it. I run 50% water, 50% methahol mixture. I use it with turbo, and i am intercooled, but it still works great. I have already boosted 12psi on stock ls block with it, no detonation at all. With supercharger set-up cooling the air is your problem. It is pretty much the only option you have of cooling your air temps down besides running rich. I paid 210 shipped for the spearco kit, it works as promised and it is still 300 cheaper than the JRSC/Aquamist kit. I would go for it.

Cool thanks.
What's the difference between the spearco kit and the aquamist kit? That seems like an awefully large price difference.

Aquamist kit is a little nicer finish, but essentially they are the same. The spearco kit is mainly used by DSM and grand national guys. There isnt much hype around it, meaning there isnt advertising in magazines, where as aquamist does. I am only comparing the base aquamist kit, not the stage 2 or 3's....those have little programable computers with them..pretty cool idea, but a little overkill if you ask me. You can mimic basically the same thing if you had an auxillary port with a standalone and wired in the solenoid from the pressurized water pump to spary when you wanted it to. I would go for the spearco....complete kit and the reliablity is there, i havent had any troubles with it now for the past few months.

Re: Is water injection worth it? (austrian ITR)
Thanks austrian ITR. I have also heard some bad stuff about the endyn stepper pulley. Now that I know somebody else makes a similar product, I think I'll go that route. I'll have to e-mail Mr. Helbing. Is he JRcivic on the Hostboard forum?

I have two questions...
1) How long does it take to go through how much water?
2) Does it cause any corrosion problems inside the intake manifold or anywhere else for that matter?

Redline racing i believe it is. Here is the link: http://www.cnw.com/~redline/waterinjectionkit.htm
It is fairly easy to install. You have to tap a hole in your intercooler piping with a tap, then thread the nozzle in. You have to find a place to mount the little water reservior. Run some vacuum lines and a water inlet line and you are done. It works like a rising rate regulator...it spits out more water the more boost pressure it sees.
As far as rusting inside the intake manifold, there isnt any. The water basically makes the hot air that is going into the engine more dense, therefore creating more power and supressing detonation. Actually water injection "steam cleans" the inside of your combustion chamber, removing hot spots that create detonation as well. There are many attractive features to water injection.
The little .4 gallon water reservior tank lasts me about every tank of gas that i go through. I carry around a water bottle filled with 1/2 water, 1/2 metahol so when i gas up i always have the mixture ready. Just pop the hood, fill the reservior and you are ready to go.

2. The mist of h2o is so fine that the water evaporates before it gets to the manifold, so corrosion is rare.
