Default Wastegate Question

Looking to pick up a Tial 38mm for my build up. However after speaking to a local guy thats pretty well known around the supra community he said for the low levels of boost Ill be running a LARGER wg is actully better. He said since that gate is going to need to bleed off more pressure a larger gate would be best.

Now a little info on the motor. Pretty much a stock B18c and I only plan to run 6-7 psi. Semi daily driver/toy(Ive also got an A4 and a truck) Car will be tuned with uber data and turbo is a basic T3. Eventually going to piece together something from Full Race, but funds are not there yet. Im basically just trying to get the turbo kit going and upgrade as I go. Just would like some opinions from guys with similar setups and whats popular out there.

with a basic t3 you will be fine with just the 38mm. i had a 38mm tial on my drag kit for 3 years, no creep at low or high boost. youll be ok.

Yeah bigger wastegates are for larger turbos running smaller amounts of boost. With a t3 you should be fine with a 38mm wastegate. Off the subject though...that t3 is pretty small for a gsr motor. You will most likely run out of top end power with it.

I know, but I got it very cheap. Thats why I plan on up grading as soon as I can afford pistons, rods, sleeves etc. Im sure you guys know how it is. My ultimate goal is 500 whp and I know this turbo will never see it. This is just to scratch the boost bug for now.

Oh I completely understand about money situations and going cheap in the beginning...I also know that I wish I wouldnt have wasted money on my first kit that I did. When I sold it I lost money on it. I sold it because it wasn't what I wanted and was done just to have boost in the beginning. Do what you want but I know from personal experience that you should do it right the first time.
