Default wastegate location >>

i see alot of manifolds with wastegate flangs on one of the runners instead of where they merge together.

is there any downfall to not having the wastegate where it picks up the flow of all 4 cylinders instead of just one.

platinum.

Some say you get boost spikes or boost creep when it is on one runner that’s why they put it where they all come together.

Drag manifold above 10psi= creeep, and nasty tq curves.
InlinePro manifold above 10psi= steady everything.
I used those two examples because they are similar in turbo placement, but the WG locations differ quite a bit.
And, the drag puts the WG on the #1 runner

ok, well then that brings up a new question. to fix the issue of creep and crappy curves,

could you block off the wastegate flange on the runner and then run your wastegate from the downpipe flange such as this.

Ya, thats how the turbos are designed to evacuate gas from Garret. Will be ALOT better then the WG coming off ONE runner....

Actually that design is not efficient since it is trying to control boost after the flow has entered the ex housing. The best method to prevent creep and have excellent control is before the ex housing entry at a location that pulls equally from all cylinders. The swing valve type housings also have a tiny outlet that is restrictive if you do not port it.

my revhard tubular manifold puts the wastegate on only one runner and it works perfectly fien for me as well as many others out there. I'm not sure why it works well compared to others.

no it does not. Drag manifold is on the #1 runner, the RevHard is placed closer to the collector area (between #1 & #2) compared to the Drag.

dandee. he could be talking about the old "short" tubular version, in which the wastegate is placed on the #4 runner.
