i have this problem on my car when i turn up the boost to about 19 psi. anything less then that it dosnt do that,
its a d16 with a 57trim .63 new tial external wg.
is the turbo to small?

 

Why are you posting an sti on honda-tech? Are u saying ur issue sounds exactly the same? The bottom video is the only one that works for me and is wastegate doin its job. Wasting boost. If you are getting a similar noise when u let off the gas its compressor surge and would do it because your bov isn't adjusted correctly. Wg spring size?

 

Is boost pressure stable through the rpm range? That should answer your question

 

it is stable until i hit 18-19 psi.

Change the location of the supply line to the wastage. Should fix the issue.
